Soooo, Beyonce just had Cardi B perform at her and Jay-Z’s MADE IN AMERICA concert and somebody is feeling a little salty about it. Nicki Minaj took to Instagram to post a video of her lip-syncing a diss track about her feelings on the matter.
Nicki Minaj and Beyonce released a string of hits together a few years ago; the gave the world iconic titles like Flawless Remix and Feelin’ Myself. It seemed like they were tight.
The music videos for the songs showed the two glorious women hanging out in a kiddie pool, snacking on Big Macs and slaying us all. They seem to have remained friendly over the years, but Nicki went the way of Lady Gaga, as far as the Beyonce circle of trust goes.
Beyonce doesn’t seem to keep too many people around her. Much of her inner circle includes family, her Destiny’s Child co-members, and long-time friends.
Bey has dabbled in duets with other female performers, seeming to dip her toes in potential friendship, but it seems like the queen doesn’t make a habit of letting people in. Want to know how she feels about Cardi B?
If Remy Ma is to be believed (and she seems pretty Real herself), Nicki is one of those covert narcissists who sees no problem with stepping on and tearing down others on her way to success. Ever since the Remy Ma callout that was SHEther, Nicki hasn’t seems quite herself.
Minaj’s verses on other rapper’s feats have been weak to say the least, and her hip-hop hits are far weaker than her previous work. This lull in Nicki’s domination of the charts allowed for a new Queen to emerge, even Beyonce thinks so.
Cardi B came out swinging and swinging HARD with her hit Bodak Yellow, who’s simple trap beat allows for Cardi to show off her lyrical prowess and bad attitude, which is what she is most known for. Cardi B truly don’t take no crap from nobody.
The song has blown up, racing up the charts, and watching this girl from The Bronx, this former stripper and certified Bloods member, celebrate her success has been amazing. Cardi B is literally living the dream.
Cardi has been making the rounds with powerful women in the industry; she performed alongside Remy Ma, Queen Latifa, and Lil Kim for Remy’s Summer Jam performance. This was a big deal, if you consider the fact that Cardi was nothing in hip-hop yet.
Remy Ma must have seen something in her. Beyonce must have too.
The comments on the photo Bey shared of her and Cardi at the MADE IN AMERICA concert all hail Cardi B as the new Queen of Rap. Nicki’s not having it.
Nicki posted a video of herself lip-syncing some disses, with the track clearly made with Cardi B in mind. The problem? It’s wack.
Nicki’s been outed as a phony baloney, and worse, a phony baloney who doesn’t hold down her fellow woman. Nicki’s the girl who doesn’t realize that more women at the top makes everything better for women as a whole, for people as a whole, and for hip-hop as a whole.
Nicki Minaj should just stick to hip-pop and let the real G’s handle the hip-hop. Cardi B is the Nicki Beyonce deserves. She’s the Nicki we all deserve.
